Victor Matthews and Paolo Nicola Rossini exhibiting in Miami January 2014

From the Venice Biennale to the BOCA Museum of Art to Miami….

MIAMI, FL – Following an incredible year, the internationally acclaimed exhibition Transitions will now conclude its traveling exhibition in the vibrant Wynwood Art District at Oxenberg Fine Art running from January 9th to February 28th 2014.

TRANSITIONS features the works of VICTOR MATTHEWS and PAOLO NICOLA ROSSINI. The show is curated by young and talented Natalie Clifford, owner and director of Space SBH Gallery in St. Barths.

MATTHEW’s White Paintings, which refer to his native home of New York, have a serenity and simplicity to them that personify a purity within the artist and define his cherished relationship with his city.

The overlap of sequential images dissolve together in ROSSINI’s photographs, creating a real distortion of space which makes the works seem like paintings but change the identity and reality of what the viewer sees. We are drawn to explore the abstract as Rossini engages us in the game of duality between reality and illusion.

“Matthews and Rossini challenge the transition of image from the minds eye, externalizing it through their painting and photography,” says Clifford.

A grand opening reception will be hosted at the gallery on Thursday, January 16th, 2014 from 6 PM to 9 PM with the artists and the curator in attendance.

The gallery is located at 50 NE 29th Street, Wynwood Art District, Miami. Open Monday to Friday 11 AM to 5 PM, Saturday by appointment only. Tel: (305) 854 7104 –

About the Artists:

VICTOR MATTHEWS was born in Brooklyn in 1963 and currently lives and works in New York City. He attended the High School of Art and Design and received his BFA from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. His work has been exhibited in numerous solo exhibitions in the US and abroad, including the 48th Venice Biennale, Museum Sala Uno (Rome), Stephen Wirtz Gallery (San Francisco), Perry Rubenstein Gallery (New York), Space SBH Gallery (St. Barths) and The Sculpture Center (New York).

PAOLO NICOLA ROSSINI was born in Milan in 1972 and currently lives and works in Monaco. Having initially studied law and economics, it wasn’t long before his creativity won through. His evolution toward an artistic approach to photography started in late 2007 and being self-taught has been important to Rossini for listening to his own voice and central to conveying his own artistic expression – unconditioned, he is guided from the inside. His work has been shown frequently in his native Milan, Italy and more recently with galleries internationally.
