Jean-Philippe Piter  I  Erotic Exotic Erotic

Opening November 2nd 2017, Space MIA Contemporary Art Gallery

This November Space Contemporary Art Gallery is excited to present the inaugural exhibition at our new MIAMI location.

Join us for this beautiful exhibition, which comprises a selection of some of Jean-Philippe Piter’s most iconic photographs. This first collection was photographed variously between St Barth, Bahamas and Miami and is titled Erotic, Exotic, Erotic. The works are fun, playful and sexy – and always mixed with the artist’s signature humor. Jean-Philippe captures the essence of the women and soul of the landscapes he photographs.

“SIMPLICITY is the first word that comes to my mind to describe my work. I stick to the essential kit. I work without assistants/team. I always shoot in natural light and never use more than 2 lenses. As a result there is no artifice in my photographs. They have a simplicity that, paradoxically, is hard to achieve. It has always been passion over reason. Authenticity and simplicity.” – JPP
A French photographer, publisher and art director, Jean-Philippe was born in Senegal before moving to France at 16 to study photography. He began his career as a decoration and architecture photographer working for Philippe Starck and Christian Liaigre and then moved to Saint-Barthélemy FWI in 1997. There in ’97 he began publishing his magazine PURE ST-BARTH documenting the unique lifestyle and people of St-Barth which through the years has become the visual reference of the island.
Jean-Philippe is well known also for his portraits of celebrities, underwater series and art nudes. His work has been published in magazines around the world: Photo, GQ, Vanity Fair, Citizen K, W, Vogue UK, Interiors, Numéro, Times magazine…
He is currently focusing on Art Nudes, Interiors, Architecture and Private Sessions. When he is not travelling for assignments he shares his time between the Bahamas and St. Barth.
All photographs are available in 3 sizes and editions are limited. Works are normally sold and shipped unframed.
