Space Gallery St Barth is delighted to announce the launch of a new collection of works on paper by artist Raimundo Figueroa. 

"The Things I Love", is a series illustrating details of Raimundo’s life and love with collage and objects collected over decades: 

“In the creation of my collages, I collect materials at random. I gather bits of paper, stamps, tags, and notes, which I intertwine with my own drawings. These drawings stem from the experiences of daily life, the deep longing to be creative, and the inherent desire to be fully engaged in the meditative process.” - Raimundo Figueroa

THE THINGS I LOVE is artist Raimundo Figueroa’s latest creative expression of his innermost thoughts on life, beauty and self-discovery. A dialogue between the artist and the late poet Luis Palés Matos (1898 1959) was the spark that inspired this series.  The artist states that his artwork for many years has been the product of his reaction to “secret dialogues” – having created entire series from this theme. Conversations with other artists, friends, art dealers, past masters ignited questions in his inquisitive mind and informed his creativity to produce new bodies of work and collections.

Figueroa’s intimate collection will take you on an adventure into diverse themes creatively gathered with powerful imagery and color into a coherent whole. 
 

The tropicality of Mato’s thoughts and the Caribbean flavor that exists in his use of language are freely expressed by Figueroa in the fluid freehand movements of his signature flowers and holistic masks which seem to float on top of the artist’s personal memorabilia; stamps, magazines, drawings, paintings and random thoughts either created or gathered by the artist over the years. Each unique piece is a true conversation piece with a profound joy of life, interaction with ancient cultures and the beauty in nature.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Raimundo Figueroa is an American artist, born in 1957. He has a rich background of painting and received many accolades for his work and is also a talented musician. His career has spanned four decades and his work is found in numerous public and private collections worldwide.
