Artist Talk Event
with the artist duo from Resurrect Studio
August 7th 2025 - Space Gallery SOHO
The Creative Artist Talk Event had a fantastic turnout for the Resurrect Studio Artist Talk at our Soho Gallery on Thursday, August 7th.
Working with century-old glass collected from New York’s shores, this Brooklyn-based artist duo transforms forgotten fragments into layered compositions that celebrate light, memory, and renewal.
The evening began with a compelling 10 minute film by Zachary Finkelstein, offering a vivid glimpse into the landfill where the artists gather their materials. Guests were then treated to an inspiring and engaging conversation with the talented duo, who shared the techniques, inspirations, and stories that breathe life into their work.
Presented in collaboration with Kelly-McKenna Gallery, Space Gallery SoHo showcased the High Tide Collection as part of our summer exhibition. Guests explored the sculptures up close, gaining a deeper appreciation for the artistry and vision behind Resurrect Studio’s work.

ABOUT RESURRECT STUDIO
Resurrect Studio is a collaborative art practice founded by Jean Davis and Nancy Wu, emerging from a shared fascination with light, color, and the transformative potential of overlooked materials. Working with glass reclaimed from landfills, they reshape these fragments into works of striking beauty. In doing so, they breathe new life into what was once abandoned, while prompting viewers to reconsider notions of waste and value. Their practice blends craftsmanship, sustainability, and storytelling, resulting in pieces that are as thought-provoking as they are visually compelling.

"Dead Horse Bay" by Zachary Finkelstein - Trailer
This short experimental documentary is a portrait of a South Brooklyn beach that sits on top of a century-old garbage dump. Dead Horse Bay follows the mudlarkers and artists who come to dig through the debris, unearthing treasures from New York City's past. Images recorded with antique and damaged camera lenses evoke a fractured landscape in constant ebb and flow between past and present. The immersive sound design combines the distinctive clinking of glass tumbling in the waves and interviews with the community of people who have spent years getting to know the rhythms of the bay.
Dead Horse Bay is made possible by NYSCA with the support of the office of the Governor and the NYS Legislature.
Dead Horse Bay is sponsered, in part, by the Greater New York Arts Development Fund of the NYC Dept. of Cultural Affairs, administered by Brooklyn Arts Council
