Space Gallery St Barth is delighted to present the latest winter exhibition at BARNES Saint-Barth, continuing a shared commitment to excellence, craftsmanship, and a highly personalized approach—whether in art or real estate.

For this exhibition, Space Gallery unveils The St Barth Watercolor Collection, featuring works by artists Julie Fumat and Andrew Radcliffe. United by their mastery of watercolor yet distinct in vision, both artists capture the essence of St Barth through light, color, and atmosphere, offering complementary perspectives on the island’s rhythm, beauty, and quiet poetry.

Together, Fumat and Radcliffe offer a nuanced portrait of St Barth—balancing serenity with vitality, intimacy with openness. The inherent transparency and fluidity of watercolor become the perfect vehicle to convey the island’s luminous landscapes, shifting skies, and reflective waters.

The exhibition is on view daily at BARNES Saint-Barth Headquarters in Gustavia, housed in a traditional St Barth display that combines warmth and elegance. Collectors are invited to explore individual works or curated groupings, with assistance from the Space Gallery team to select pieces that complement both homes and collections.

JUILE FUMAT

Julie Fumat’s watercolors are celebrated for their softness, intimacy, and atmospheric detail. Her compositions focus on architectural elements, shaded terraces, coastal paths, and everyday island scenes—moments that evoke the gentle pace of St Barth life.

Working primarily with ink and watercolor, Fumat embraces transparency and chance, often using the wet-on-wet technique to create delicate fusions of pigment and water. She also experiments with digital overprinting and layering to give each piece new depth and dimension.

Her ongoing project, under the artistic identity Moon St Barth, includes 11 limited edition aquarelle prints capturing the island’s most iconic sites—from Corossol and Gustavia to Shell Beach, the Bucket Regatta, and the colorful Minimoke. Fumat’s work transforms everyday scenes into meditative images, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and rediscover the beauty of familiar places.

ANDREW RADCLIFFE

Andrew Radcliffe’s watercolors are vibrant, expressive, and infused with movement. Inspired by St Barth’s coastline, harbors, boats, and panoramic landscapes, Radcliffe captures the energy of the island through bold brushwork, layered pigments, and dynamic compositions.

His series The Swimmer features lone figures navigating the crystalline waters of St Barth, sometimes fully visible, sometimes partially submerged. These works invite viewers to immerse themselves in the landscape, offering moments of quiet introspection and connection with nature. Radcliffe’s use of watercolor celebrates both spontaneity and precision, reflecting the island’s ever-changing light and mood.

A New York-based artist, Radcliffe received his BFA from Pratt Institute, attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and earned an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. Since 2006, he has painted regularly in St Barth, translating the island’s vibrancy and serenity into luminous works on paper.
