Space Gallery SoHo is delighted to present The Joy of Being, a summer group exhibition celebrating the simple pleasures of life through color, memory, nature, and the enduring beauty of the Mediterranean and Caribbean landscapes. Bringing together new works by Karolina Karlsson, Rémy de Haenen, Nadia Fanelli, and Dan Pelonis, the exhibition invites visitors to embrace the warmth, freedom, and optimism that define the summer season.

From sun-drenched coastlines and crystalline waters to blooming gardens and vibrant marine life, each artist offers a distinct interpretation of joy and place. Together, their works evoke long afternoons by the sea, leisurely travels, cherished memories, and the restorative power of nature. Karolina Karlsson's latest works celebrate the simple pleasures of summer through elegant silhouettes of rosé, champagne, and sun-ripened fruit, evoking idyllic beach picnics, long afternoons by the sea, and moments of carefree indulgence. Her refined compositions and contemporary aesthetic elevate these familiar pleasures into timeless symbols of relaxation, conviviality, and the art of living well.

Rémy de Haenen presents a selection of works that celebrate the relaxed spirit of island life through two vibrant paintings inspired by the beaches of St. Barthélemy, alongside several of his renowned Tree Sculptures. Constructed from multiple hand-painted acrylic plates layered between wooden supports, these sculptural works create a remarkable sense of depth, transparency, and movement as light passes through each painted layer. Blending painting and sculpture, de Haenen's works explore the beauty of nature, inviting viewers to experience the landscape not only through colour and form, but also through light, space, and perspective.

Italian artist Nadia Fanelli's abstract landscapes invite viewers into places that feel both familiar and imagined. Built through translucent layers of color, texture, and gestural brushwork, her paintings evoke the atmosphere of remembered coastlines, distant horizons, and fleeting moments in nature. Rather than illustrating a particular landscape, Fanelli captures its emotional essence, allowing each viewer to discover their own sense of place within the work.

Completing the exhibition are the distinctive paintings of Dan Pelonis, whose signature visual language is defined by intricate, hand-painted patterns and rhythmic repetition. In The joy of being, Pelonis presents his celebrated turtle and boat compositions alongside serene river landscapes, where repeated boats drift across tranquil waters to create mesmerizing, meditative scenes. Through vibrant colour, meticulous patterning, and layered textures, his works celebrate the harmony of nature, the poetry of travel, and the quiet joy found in life's simple moments.

Together, these artists offer a celebration of summer as both a season and a state of mind, a reminder to slow down, reconnect with nature, embrace beauty, and rediscover the joy of simply being.
