Ricardo Perez Quintero The Art Of Sounds, mixed media
An inaugural show by Venezuelan architect and visual artist Ricardo Perez Quintero opens with a cocktail reception from 6pm-8pm on Thursday, July 28 at Space SBH Gallery in the Carré D’Or in Gustavia. His work shows influences of such modern artists as Joseph Cornell, Marcel Duchamp, Louise Nevelson, and René Magritte, as he creates his assemblages, an enticing mix of sculpture and collage. Rescuing lost objects, he transforms them into poetic works of art.
Ricardo Perez Quintero has created a series titled “The Art Of Sounds,” that evokes the power of the most universal artistic expression: music. Through planes, colors, textures, objects, and materials, he composes work with musical parts: rhythm (time and movement), melody, and harmony. Many of his assemblages are shown in antique frames that reflect his use of vintage
objects.
“Urban Suite” is a second series based on a visual theme that exhibits traits of an urban environment— from house numbers, architectural fragments, and street signs to graffiti samples—objects that evoke vestiges of urban archeology.
