Space Gallery St Barth unveils major solo exhibition of coveted French photographer, Jean-Philippe Piter.

New York, NY – June 24, 2021- Space Gallery St Barth is proud to present a comprehensive solo exhibition of photography by French artist Jean-Philippe Piter entitled PRIVATE SESSION, showcasing a selection of 38 pieces, comprising new works and some of his timeless classics. This is Jean-Philippe’s first major solo exhibition in New York and a much anticipated one that will certainly be a delight for his loyal American followers.

The exhibit will run from June 24 until August 8, 2021, at Space Gallery’s location in Soho, New York City where art aficionados will be treated to a full immersion into Jean-Philippe Piter’s latest work.

For the most part, Jean-Philippe shoots his images variously between St Barth, Bahamas and Miami and the natural beauty of those places plays a big part in the ambiance and beauty of the images he creates. Nature is definitely the second protagonist with each piece celebrating its own muse. The works are fun, playful, and sexy – and always mixed with the artist’s signature humor. Jean-Philippe captures the essence of the women and soul of the landscapes he photographs. His pieces are cheeky and fun and make you smile – the works are free spirited and are a fun twist on the classic nude. The pieces titled after the model in the photograph, reflect the energy depending on the muse – some bring a sexy energy, some fun, some serene or cool and laid back.

“SIMPLICITY is the first word that comes to my mind to describe my work. I stick to the essential kit. I work without assistants/team. I always shoot in natural light and never use more than 2 lenses. As a result, there is no artifice in my photographs. They have a simplicity that, paradoxically, is hard to achieve. It has always been passion over reason. Authenticity and simplicity.” – JPP
