Early indications point to a very special edition! Plans are well under way and all the news is good.

2024 highlights include:

  • Unparalleled ORCsy class racing in the popular pursuit racing format will provide yacht owners with exciting, close competition against yachts with similar sailing characteristics.
  • The Corinthian Spirit Class racing, which featured 12 entries last year, will return to its roots and once again be a non-spinnaker competition.
  • Based on strong early interest, the 90-foot class is expected to make a return to St Barths. The Bucket
  • Stewards will accept the first six entries (criteria to be posted with the NOR).
  • A 100-foot Racing Class will be offered for the first time. This will be for performance-oriented sloops over 100’ LOA and that do not fit the SYRA’s ‘cruising superyacht’ criteria. Please contact the organizer for further details.
  • Dock space in Gustavia will be on a first come basis. In response to feedback from our entrants, there will not be a ‘Yacht Hop’ in 2024. However, there will be a fun-themed dockside party at the Capitainerie on Saturday evening.
  • The official Bucket social schedule will again be unrivaled, providing yacht owners and their guests with a unique, fun filled experience on the water and shoreside as well.
  • Building on 2023 and in the spirit of being inclusive, social (non-racing) entrants will again be welcome to the Bucket. Sailing or motor yachts wishing to participate in the Bucket as non-racing social entries are encouraged to request an invitation to the 2024 edition. A limited number of non-racing entry applications will be accepted. Details are posted (pdf).
  • SAVE THE DATE and join us in 2024 to enjoy the special Spirit of the St Barths Bucket!

2023 Official Charities

Photograph of children preparing to go sailing in St Barths. The St Barths Bucket has proudly made many contributions to worthy St Barths causes over the years. A portion of the entry fee and proceeds from the sale of the popular Bucket posters go to local charities.

The 2023 donation will be made to a most worthwhile one: The Youth Sailing Program at the St Barths Yacht Club (SBYC). SBYC is an active sailing school with the youth of St Barths a major focus. Every year, hundreds of children learn to respect each other and their environment. They also learn responsibility and cooperation in the pursuit of these goals.

SBYC is not a conventional yacht club. Resources and budgets are far more limited than what one would expect to find in a typical yacht club. The safety and maintenance of boats in the children’s fleet is an important priority for the SBYC.

The Bucket will purchase and donate a robotic mark, which will be used by the club and hopefully at all regattas in St Barths. Robotic marks are increasingly prevalent in sailboat racing today. They reduce the need for mark boats. Engine pollution is significantly decreased and environmental damage to the sea floor done by anchors is eliminated.

The SBYC and their members play an active role as on-water and shoreside volunteers at the Bucket each year.

Limited edition posters are primarily available for sale at Space Gallery St Barth. The gallery graciously donates significant time and energy handling the sales. Posters will also be available at the regatta village.
