Gabriella Imperatori-Penn (Swiss, b.1963) is a fine art photographer. Turning her lens to objects of overt yet simple beauty - colorful birds, delicate flowers, polished obsidian, a bright harvest moon - the artist undercuts seemingly uncomplicated still life and landscape scenes with a disquieting aura that hints at alternative narratives. In this way, Imperatori-Penn recasts perfunctory beauty as something peculiar, alluring, and nuanced.

Her talent for capturing complex beauty is reflected in many of her high profile fashion campaigns for luxury brands including Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, and Cartier. Her photography has appeared in major international publications such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle Decor, and Architectural Digest to name a few. In March 2020, Imperatori-Penn's photography placed first in the juried exhibition Heart Goes Nine hosted by the Rhode Island Center for Photographic Arts curated by art historian, J. Sybylla Smith. Her work and career were recently selected to be showcased as an up-and-coming female artist-to-watch by international media platform Art She Says. Imperatori-Penn currently lives and works in Jersey City.
