ABOUT THE ARTIST

A pioneer of digital photography, Marco Glaviano was the first to publish a digital picture in American Vogue in 1982. While an early champion of this new medium, the artist prefers to apply little to no post-production technology to his own images. Instead, Glaviano captures the essence of his subject through his lens devoid of makeup, clothing, and digital touch-ups. Through his work, we celebrate the golden age of fashion, the supermodel, and its star photographer.

Ruminating on what sets his body of work apart, Glaviano comments, "The important thing is to have a great subject to photograph. Good models are not just about looks; it is about the depth of the person inside, their personality, their character. This is what I photograph.”

Marco Glaviano's photography has been displayed both domestically and internationally including in excess of thirty-five solo exhibitions in New York City, London, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, St Barth, Milan, Moscow, Palermo, and Capri. Fifteen books have been published to date cataloging his diverse body of work. Commercially, Glaviano's iconic images have graced the covers of the most prestigious fashion magazines in the world including Harper’s BAZAAR, Vanity Fair, Elle, and Vogue. The artist currently lives and works in Milan.
